What Do You Want To Improve About Yourself?

Personally, there are several things in my life that I’d like to improve. But first, I want to start with my Self.

Self improvement can be challenging. You have to dig deep in order to change or improve yourself. Changing the superficial layer of one’s self is not really an improvement. You have to be willing to pull all that negativity out in the open. And by pulling all that garbage out, you learn deeply what it means to be you.

The old adage is so true “Know thyself”. If you really know yourself, no one can break or brainwash you. Instead of blindly accepting what everyone or this society tells you about yourself, you begin to question and analyze peoples’ motives. By taking this huge leap of faith, a better you is emerging and slowly you develop a spiritual relationship with yourself and your universe.

Improving one’s self does not happen overnight. It can last for months or even years. Take baby steps. Expect to experience all the flood of emotions that are hidden deeply inside of you. Accept your emotions, do not deny them. Do not hide you from you. Keep a journal of your feelings as you are experiencing them and take your journal with you wherever you go. Join a counseling group, or take some private counseling. Join meditation classes or yoga classes.

Meditation has helped me tremendously. It gives me a better perspective on life. It makes me aware of what’s very important in my life and I prioritize accordingly. Find a room in your home to meditate in or if you live in an apartment, set up a meditative space in a corner. Read books on spirituality and meditation. Try it for yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
